Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for information.
An important political figure said the incident made him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
