An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson called the law enforcement again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five children.
